Synthetic Hair Wig Care: Easy Tips and Tricks for Keeping Your Wig Looking Its Best
If you own a synthetic hair wig, you might be wondering how to keep it looking its best. While synthetic wigs don't require as much maintenance as human hair wigs, there are still some tips and tricks you should follow to keep your wig looking fabulous. Here are some easy care tips for your synthetic hair wig:
Brush Your Wig Regularly
Just like with human hair wigs, it's important to brush your synthetic wig regularly to keep it looking smooth and tangle-free. Use a wig brush or a wide-tooth comb to gently brush the hair, starting at the ends and working your way up to the roots.
Wash Your Wig
While synthetic wigs don't need to be washed as often as human hair wigs, you should still wash your wig every 6-8 weeks, or as needed if it becomes dirty or dull-looking. Fill a sink or basin with cool water and add a small amount of wig shampoo. Gently swish the wig in the water, then rinse it thoroughly with cool water. Avoid rubbing or twisting the hair as this can cause damage.
Condition Your Wig
After washing your synthetic wig, you can use a wig conditioner to help keep the hair soft and manageable. Apply the conditioner to the hair, avoiding the roots, and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it out with cool water.
Dry Your Wig
To dry your synthetic wig, gently blot it with a towel to remove excess water, then lay it flat on a towel to air dry. Avoid using a hair dryer or exposing the wig to heat as this can damage the hair.
Style Your Wig
Synthetic wigs can't be styled with heat tools like curling irons or straighteners (unless it says it is heat resistant ) as this can damage the hair. However, you can still style your wig using wig-specific styling products and tools, like wig combs, wig clips, and wig spray.
